MONTAGUE TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING



January 25, 2005



Minutes



Mayor Butto called the session to order at 8:10 p.m. and opened the meeting, stating that the meeting was being held in compliance with the Open Meetings Act, P>L> 1975, c. 231, and has been duly advertised.

The Clerk was asked to call the roll.



Present were: Committeeman Sarocco, Deputy Mayor Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto,

Atty. Murphy, Clerk Felter

Absent: None

Excused: Committeeman Zitone



All present were asked to join in the Pledge of Allegiance.



Approval of Minutes: Regular Session November 23, 2004

Committeeman Sarocco made a motion to approve the above referenced minutes.

Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.

The motion was approve by a voice vote with

Committeeman Lashendock abstaining.



Ordinances:

First Reading:

Ord. 2005-01 An Ordinance to Combine the R2 and R3 Districts Into a Single Zone

Committeeman Sarocco made a motion to approve Ord. 2005-01.

Committeeman Lashendock seconded the motion.

The motion was approved by a unanimous voice vote.



First Reading

Ord. 2005-02 An Ordinance to adopt a Checklist For Applications to the Land Use Board

Committeeman Krebs made a motion to adopt Ord. 2005-02

Committeeman Sarocco seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



First Reading:

Ord. 2005-03 An Ordinance to Establish a Policy for Background Checks on Applications for Membership in the Montague Volunteer Fire Department

Committeeman Sarocco made a motion to adopt Ord. 2005-03

Committeeman Lashendock seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



First Reading:

Ord. 2005-04 An Ordinance Establishing Speed Limits on Certain Roads in Montague, NJ

Committeeman Sarocco made a motion to adopt Ord. 2005-04.

Committeeman Lashendock seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



Resolutions:

R2005-09 Resolution Regarding Disclosure of Confidential Medical Information

R2005-10 Cancellation of Tax Overpayments or Delinquent Amounts Less Than $10.00

R2005-11 Outside Lien Redemption

R2005-12 Requesting Approval From the Director of the Division of Local Government Services to Establish a Dedicated Trust by Rider for the Montague Township Fire Prevention Bureau

R2005-13 Appointment of the Township of Montague's Municipal Judge

Committeeman Krebs made a motion to approve all of the above referenced resolutions.

Committeeman Sarocco seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



Old Business

Rockview Golf Course-Green Acres

The Committee noted receipt of the above correspondence.



Catanzaro Property-35 Clove Road

Receipt of the above correspondence was noted by the Committee.



PTA-Township Library

New Business

Committeeman Sarocco made a motion appointing Christopher Justus as Housing Inspector as recommended by the Construction Official.

Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



Committeeman Krebs made a motion to allow the requested subordination of our Small Cities mortgage. In the future, however, the Committee will request that our Small Cities mortgages be paid in the refinancing.

Committeeman Lashendock seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



Cablevision Franchise Payment

The franchise payment was reviewed by the Committee and noted.



Reports:

Montague Volunteer Fire Department-December, 2004

Montague Volunteer Fire Department-Year 2004

The Committee noted receipt of the above mentioned reports.



Application for Membership in the Montague Fire Dept.

Peter Zoltec

The Committee tabled this application pending clarification.

Edward J. Smith

Committeeman Krebs made a motion to approve the application of Edward J. Smith.

Committeeman Sarocco seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



NJ State Fireman's Association Membership Application

Matthew Crann

Committeeman Krebs made a motion to approve the above referenced application.

Committeeman Sarocco seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



Approval of Vouchers - Payment of Bills:

Committeeman Sarocco made a motion to approve the payment of all the bills.

Committeeman Lashendock seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



Correspondence:

Committeeman Krebs

Committeeman Krebs wrote a letter to the Committee requesting the

return of all monies he paid the Township for his Health Insurance. The Committee gave his letter to the Township Attorney, Denis Murphy



Public Participation

Committeeman Sarocco made a motion to open public participation.

Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



Several of the Township residents made a request to have an event sign put up in the front of the Municipal Building. The Committee said they would look into it.



Committeeman Sarocco made a motion to close the public hearing.

Committeeman Lashendock seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.
