MONTAGUE TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING

January 22 ,2002

Minutes

 

Mayor Butto called the session to order at 8:05 p.m. and opened the meeting, stating that the meeting was being held in compliance with the Open Meetings Act, P>L> 1975, c. 231, and has been duly advertised.

The Clerk was asked to call the roll.

Present were: Committeewoman Kaman, Committeeman Zitone,

Committeeman Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto

Clerk Felter, Atty.

Absent: None

All present were asked to join in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Committeeman Zitone made a motion to amend the agenda.

Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.

Ross Decker, Mayor of Port Jervis, N.Y.

Stan Siegel, Councilman at Large of Port Jervis, N.Y.

Mayor Decker and Councilman at Large Siegel came to the Committee to offer their cooperation in anyway they may be of help to the

Township of Montague. They expressed a desire to have all the surrounding Townships work together. The Committee expressed the hope that this would happen. Deputy Mayor Joseph Barbagallo and Committeeman Joseph Zitone made the statement that this was the first time in their memory that a Mayor or Councilman at Large of Port Jervis, New York had ever attended a meeting in Montague. The Committee sincerely thanked both Mayor Decker and Councilmen at Large Siegel for coming and also assured them of their willingness to cooperate in anyway they are able.

Approval of Minutes: Regular Session January 5, 2002

Committeeman Krebs made a motion to approve the minutes of

January 5, 2002.

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo seconded the motion.

The motion was passed by a unanimous roll call vote:

Ayes: Committeewoman Kaman, Committeeman Zitone,

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto

Nays: None

Presentation to Pamela Jerger

Mayor Butto presented Pamela Jerger with an appreciation plaque

and a dozen red roses on behalf of the Committee as a AThank You@ for her many years of outstanding service to the Township as

Tax Collector, CFO/Treasurer.

Resolutions

R2002-13 Outside Lien Redemptions

R2002-14 Delinquent Interest

R2002-15 Transfer Appropriation Reserves

Committeeman Zitone made a motion to adopt the above resolutions.

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous roll call vote:

Ayes: Committeewoman Kaman, Committeeman Zitone,

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto

Nays: None

Old Business

State of New Jersey - 2002 Municipal Aid Program - Rubin Hill Rd.

The Committee noted receipt of the above mentioned correspondence

in connection with the grant to resurface Rubin Hill Road.

Committeeman Krebs made a motion to go out to bid for the work to be done on Rubin Hill Road.

Committeewoman Kaman seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous roll call vote:

Ayes: Committeewoman Kaman, Committeeman Zitone,

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto

Nays: None

New Business

Certificate of Inspection Permitting Occupancy

Action on the above mentioned item was tabled by the Committee pending further information.

Appointment

Committeeman Zitone made a motion to appoint Walter VanKirk

as Fire Sub Code Official/Fire Official.

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous roll call vote:

Ayes: Committeewoman Kaman, Committeeman Zitone,

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto

Nays: None

Approval of Vouchers - Payment of Bills:

Committeeman Zitone made a motion to pay all bills.

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous roll call vote:

Ayes: Committeewoman Kaman, Committeeman Zitone,

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto

Nays: None

Correspondence:

Request to Purchase an Ad for the Port Jervis High School Production of AHello Dolly.@

Committeeman Zitone made a motion to purchase a 1/4 page ad.

Committeewoman Kaman seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.

Public Participation

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo made a motion to open public participation.

Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.

Desmond Finegan

Mr. Finegan thanked the Committee for all their help over the past year. He also wanted to thank Paul Accardo of our DPW for his assistance when Mr. Finegan had items for the recycling.

 

Evelyn Mills

Mrs. Mills had complaints regarding the enforcement of the zoning regulations. The Committee promised to look into the matter.

R. Cole

Mr. Cole came to the Committee with complaints regarding the School budget. The Committee advised Mr. Cole that the Township had no control over the School.

Mayor Butto asked if there was anyone else who wished to speak. There was not.

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo made a motion to close public participation.

Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.
