MONTAGUE TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING

April 9,2002

Minutes

Mayor Butto called the session to order at 8:05 p.m. and opened the meeting, stating that the meeting was being held in compliance with the Open Meetings Act, P>L> 1975, c. 231, and has been duly advertised.

The Clerk was asked to call the roll.

Present were: Committeewoman Maureen Kaman,

Committeeman Joseph Zitone,

Committeeman Joseph Barbagallo,

Committeeman Mark Krebs, Mayor Joseph Butto

Helen Felter, Municipal Clerk, Dennis Murphy, Esq.

Absent: None

All present were asked to join in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Committeeman Zitone made a motion to award the bid for the

resurfacing of Rubin Hill Road to the lowest bidder,

Owl Contracting, in the amount of $71,710.00.

Approval of Minutes: Regular Session 3-12-02

Committeeman Krebs made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular session of 3-12-02.

Deputy Mayor Mayor Barbagallo seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous roll call vote:

Ayes: Committeewoman Kaman, Committeeman Zitone,

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto

Nays: None

R2002-28 Outside Lien Redemptions

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo made a motion to approve the above mentioned resolution.

Committeeman Zitone seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.

R2002-29 Awarding of the Bid For Rubin Hill Road

Committeeman Zitone made a motion to award the bid for resurfacing Rubin Hill Road to Owl Contracting, the lowest bidder.

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous roll call vote:

Ayes: Committeewoman Kaman, Committeeman Zitone,

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto

Nays: Non

Foreclosure Properties

Denis Murphy, Attorney for the Township, advised the Committee that the final judgements on the foreclosed properties have not been received yet.

None

Brian VanDeer

Committeeman Krebs made a motion to table the above mentioned

application.

Committeeman Zitone seconded the motion.

The motion was carred by a unanimous roll call vote:

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto

Nays: None

Montague Township Volunteer Fire Dept.-March, 2002

The Committee noted receipt of the above mentioned report.

Recreation at the Municipal Building

Committeeman Krebs reported to the Committee that he is still looking into different types of recreation that could be placed by the Municipal Building.

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo made a motion to pay all the bills.

Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous roll call vote:

Ayes: Committeewoman Kaman, Committeeman Zitone,

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo, Committeeman Krebs, Mayor Butto

Ballfield:

Committeeman Zitone advised the Committee that Mr. Glen Goodyear of the Recreation Committee approached him regarding the Township helping to extend the outfield of the baseball field on route #206. Committeeman Zitone said he felt that it would be expensive with a cost in the neighborhood of $3500.00 to $5000.00. Deputy Mayor Barbagallo made a suggestion that this project be put off until it could be determined if we are able to get some fill etc. to offset the price. Mayor Butto also stated that before anything can be done, permission from the Park Service is necessary. The Committee agreed.

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo made a motion to open the meeting to the public.

Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.

Desmond Finegan

Mr. Finegan asked if the Township was planning a clean-up

Dorothy Ames

Ms. Ames advised the Committee that for years the teams have received money for cleaning up roads thru Clean Communities. This program has not been reinstated and therefore this money will no longer be available.

Mayor Butto asked if there was anyone else who wished to speak. There was no one.

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo made a motion to close public participation.

Committeewoman Kaman seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo made a motion to close the meeting.

Committeeman Zitone seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.

The meeting closed at 8:30 P.M.
