MONTAGUE TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE REORGANIZATION MEETING



January 3, 2004

Minutes





Municipal Clerk Helen Felter called the session to order at

1:10 p.m. and opened the meeting, stating that the meeting was being held in compliance with the Open Meetings Act, P>L> 1975, c. 231, and has been duly advertised.



Present: Committeeman Sarocco, Committeeman Krebs,

Committeeman Barbagallo, Committeeman Butto

Stephen Edelstein, Esq.,Helen Felter, Municipal Clerk

Excused: Committeeman Zitone



All present were asked to join in the Pledge of Allegiance



Erma Gormley, County Clerk then read the Statement of Determination naming Mark Krebs and John Sarocco as elected in the election held on November 4, 2003.



Before the start of the meeting, Mrs. Gormley administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected Committeemen Mark Krebs and John Sarocco, who were each elected to a three (3) year term.



Clerk Felter asked if anyone on the Committee would like to place a name in nomination for the position of Mayor for the year 2004.



Committeeman Krebs nominated Joseph Butto.

Committeeman Sarrocco seconded the motion.



Ayes: Committeeman Krebs, Committeeman Butto,

Committeeman Sarocco, Committeeman Barbagallo

Nays: None



Erma Gormley, County Clerk then administered the Oath of the Office to Mayor Joseph Butto.



Clerk Felter then turned the meeting over to the newly sworn Mayor, Joseph Butto.



Mayor Butto asked for nominations for Deputy Mayor.



Mayor Butto nominated Joseph Barbagallo as Deputy Mayor for the year 2004.

Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.

The motion was passed by a unanimous roll call vote:

Ayes: Committeeman Sarocco, Committeeman Krebs,

Committeeman Barbagallo, Mayor Butto

Nays: None

County Clerk Erma Gormley then swore in Deputy Mayor Joseph Barbagallo

Public Participation:

Deputy Mayor Barbagallo made a motion to open public participation.

Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.

The motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.



Desmond Finegan

Mr. Finegan thanked the previous Township Committee for all the work they did for the Township.



Mayor Gary Lapriore-Port Jervis, New York

Mayor Lapriore wished the Committee good luck in the up coming year and voiced his desire to work closely with Montague Township in 2004.



Mayor Butto asked if there was anyone else in the public who wished to speak. There was no one.



The meeting closed at 2:20 P.M.
