MONTAGUE TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING
JUNE 28, 2005
Minutes
Mayor Barbagallo called the session to order at 8:16 p.m. and opened the meeting, stating the meeting was being held in compliance with the Open Meetings Act, P>L 1975,c 231 and has been duly advertised.
The Clerk was asked to call the roll.
Present were: Mayor Barbagallo, Deputy Mayor Soracco, Committeeman Campana, Committeeman Lashendock, Committeeman Krebs. Attny Chris Welgos, Clerk Francisco
Absent: None
All present were asked to join in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Approval of Minutes: May 24, 2004 and June 14, 2005
Committeeman Lashendock made a motion to approve above referenced minutes.
Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.
Motion was carried by unanimous voice vote.
Resolutions
R2005-52 Outside Lien Redemption
R2005-53 Liquor License Renewal
R2005-54 Refund of Duplicate Permit Fee
Committeeman Soracco made a motion to adopt the above referenced Resolutions.
Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.
Motion was carried by unanimous voice vote.
R2005-55 Award of Contract Fire Truck T-Tank Pumper to KME
Committeeman Soracco made a motion to accept the above referenced resolution.
Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.
Motion was carried by unanimous voice vote.
New Business
Street Signs on Private RD ( Black Bear)
Mayor proposed that it be the towns responsibility to place street signs on private roads that have dwellings on them.
Committeeman Krebs made a motion to approve the above proposal.
Committeeman Sorracco seconded the motion.
The motion was carried by unanimous voice vote.
Appointment of Desrie Picinich to Registrar
Committeeman Lashendock made a motion to appoint Desrie Picinich to Registrar.
Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion.
The motion was carried by unanimous voice vote.
Appointment of David Poe to Tax Assessor for a four year term.
Committeeman Soracco made a motion to appoint David Poe as Tax Assessor for a four year term.
Committeeman Lashendock seconded the motion.
The motion was carried by unanimous voice vote.
Old Business:
Health Insurance
Committeeman Soracco made a motion to change from the State Health Benefits Program
to a private health insurance plan.
Committeeman Lashendock seconded the motion.
There was Roll Call vote.
Ayes: Deputy Mayor Soracco, Committeeman Campana, Committeeman Lashendock, Mayor Barbagallo.
Nays: Committeeman Krebs
Health Care Benefits extended to Toni-Lu Martin, Treasurer.
Deputy Mayor Soracco made a motion to approve health care benefits for the treasurer.
Committeeman Lashendock seconded the motion.
The motion was carried by unanimous voice.
Public Participation
Committeeman Lashendock made a motion to open public participation .
Committeeman Krebs seconded the motion
The motion was carried by unanimous voice vote.
Mr Clauberg inquired about traffic light on rt 23 by rt 84 and Shop-rite, Mayor Barbagallo responded that the State of New York DOT and the New Jersey DOT, have been meeting along with the Mayors and Mark Krebs regarding the situation and that there is a plan for traffic lights and turning lane, however the Mayor was not certain when construction would begin.
Mr Cole inquired about fire department, apparatus and CDL licensed volunteers and the need for a new firehouse. Mayor Barbagallo responded commented that we are in the process of building a new fire house, took his suggestions under advisement.
Rhodi Tuefert of the Recreation Committee, informed the committee of upcoming events, trip to Mountain Creek, requested the carpet cleaned in the Library and that the Library is close to being opened. They requested a typewriter and the store room adjacent to the Library. Mayor Barbagallo and the treasurer responded that the documents stored there not able to be moved at this time. Ms Teufert also informed the committee that July 1st will hold there first meeting regarding Montague Day and invited the public to attend . Plans for the Luau Pig Roast and Date Night with babysitting services were well underway. he also inquired about letter to Senator Robert Littel regarding the use of Rockview. Golf course. The background checks were discussed again, and that the forms can be picked up at the Sate Police Barracks.
Marge DeGroat inquired if the town could do something about the truck traffic being diverted onto River Rd. because of construction on 84. The Mayor responded that he didn't think that there was much that could be done other than inquiring how long the traffic would be diverted which he would do.
Motion was made by Committeman Krebs to close public session.
Committeeman Lashendock seconded the motion.
Motion was carried by a unanimous voice vote.
Motion was made to adjourn Township Committee meeting by Committeeman Soracco.
Motion was seconded by Committeeman Krebs.
Motion was carried by unanimous voice vote.
