Landlords - Please Read!

IT'S THE LAW! – N.J.S.A. 46:8-27 thru 37

If you are the owner of a single or two-unit dwelling rented out to others, New Jersey State Law requires you to file a Landlord Registration Certificate with the Municipal Clerk, and provide a copy to your tenant(s). Additionally, if any information changes, an amended certificate must be filed within twenty (20) days of the change. If you haven't already done so, please take the time to fill out this form to gain compliance with the Law. Failure to do so may result in a penalty of not more than $500.00 for each offense.

It is also a requirement of this Township by Ordinance to obtain a Housing Inspection and Fire Inspection for each rental unit prior to occupancy. You may download our complete set of applications now or you may obtain them at the Building Department.

These are requirements of our Township Codes and must be adhered to. Failure to do what is required will result in penalties for non-compliance under our Chapter 42 Housing Standards, 54A and 54B.

Also please note that under Section 54B-14, no rental unit may be registered or no license shall be issued for any property containing a rental unit unless all municipal taxes and any other municipal assessment are paid on a current basis. Therefore, please make sure your taxes or any other assessments are paid to date.

Thank you for your cooperation and for making our community a safe one.
